Policy & Investment
Kathleen Blake Piano Studio works to share the art of piano with students in grades K - 12.
Lessons are available in 30 minute sessions. During individual lessons, students will concentrate primarily on solo pieces, music theory, ear training, scales, and sight reading. Other areas to be considered as students progress are duets and the OFMC Festival.
Investment
Invoices are sent out the first day of the month. Payment is due the first lesson of the month. Throughout the year, the instructor will purchase necessary music for the student with the consent of the parent/guardian. Additional costs involved in piano lessons may include the purchase of a metronome and regular tunings to an acoustic piano at home.
Contact the studio to learn more about pricing.
Attendance
Prompt attendance is expected in order to establish routine and maximize your investment in private lessons. Lessons will only be made up if the instructor is contacted at least 24 hours prior to the lesson.
There will be no refunds for missed lessons. However, missed lessons, in which adequate notice is given, will be rescheduled on a designated make-up week.
Only lessons that the instructor is contacted about in advance will be rescheduled.
The instructor reserves the right to dismiss the student from the studio if a student misses or reschedules 3 lessons.
Practice
Year 1: At least 10 minutes/day, 4 days per week
Year 2: At least 15 minutes/day, 4 days/week
Year 3 - 4: At least 20 minutes/day, 5 days/week
Year 5+: At least 30 minutes/day, 5 days/week
The instructor reserves the right to dismiss a student from the studio if they fail to meet these requirements.
Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is absolutely necessary to the success of the student. Practicing is the means to realizing the student’s potential, and coming to lessons prepared is crucial. Please encourage your child as they practice and achieve their goals.
Terminating Lessons
Families wishing to terminate lessons must give the instructor a 30 day notice in writing (email or hand written letter). If a student stops lessons in the middle of the month, full tuition will still be charged for the month.
